Classroom Counseling

Millard has implemented a comprehensive school counseling program. Here is Millard’s Counseling Philosophy and Beliefs:

In support of the Millard Public School’s mission, the comprehensive counseling program will ensure that all students develop academic, career and social/emotional skills necessary to become productive, contributing members of society. Counselors will build relationships and work in partnership with students, parents/guardians, community and school staff! I would like to share with you my role as the school counselor at Rohwer Elementary!

I visit all of our K-5 classrooms for a 30-minute counseling lesson every third week. Millard's counseling curriculum is developmentally appropriate and incorporates the PK-12 College and Career Readiness Standards and Indicators. The counseling program is both preventative and proactive. Each lesson has an academic, personal/social or career objective. The lessons will focus on the following: self-esteem, friendship, problem-solving, decision-making, study skills, bullying, feelings, positive attitude, cooperation, goal setting and careers. We learn a lot together during our classroom counseling lessons! Students will be learning many Life Skills to help them be successful!
