Dr. Burton is in her ninth year as principal at Rohwer Elementary. Before coming to Rohwer, she spent 3 years as the Administrative Intern at Ackerman Elementary. Prior to that, Dr. Burton was a Literacy Coach & Interventionist for 5 years at Ackerman Elementary in Millard. She has previously worked for Omaha Public Schools and the Bakersfield City School District. Dr. Burton graduated from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. One day she was invited to be a guest reader at an elementary school and realized that education was her true calling. She returned to school and attended California State University – Bakersfield to obtain her teaching certificate. She continued her education receiving a Reading Endorsement from UCLA, Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Peru State College, Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Doane College, and her Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. When she is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and being outdoors.
